VENUE & COURSE DETAILS

Hood River Super D: May 30th

It’s official, additional miles and more vert has been added to last years course and the race will now finish at lower Post Canyon. The course drops 3,000 vertical feet in 7 miles, while serving up about 400 feet of climbing. Expect a super fast, challenging race that will have you maxed out the whole way! The Hood River Super D is one of the most scenically spectacular and steepest Super D courses in the country. Many course locations clock riders at over 35 mph! So yes, this is a burly course where expert level skills are often required. This area features very fast and technical trails that have been the focus of major mountain bike videos and magazine publications. Post Canyon is becoming one of the top mountain bike meccas in the country and athletes are continually flocking here to test their skills throughout our diverse network of trails and freeride features. Away from the dirt, this year’s kick-off and post-race parties will take place at Double Mountain Brewery in downtown Hood River with live music, a sponsored demo-zone and award ceremonies happening here; both Saturday and Sunday. Not to mention, NW School of Freeride will be hosting dual pump track races all day on Sunday with finals kicking off after the Super D award ceremonies. Race packets MUST be picked up Saturday at Discover Bicycles, located a couple blocks away from the festivities. Shuttles will transport riders from lower Post Canyon up to the start line beginning around 7:30am on race day. Car pooling or pedaling from town is highly recommended to reduce traffic congestion on the lower road!

Sandy Ridge Super D: September 5th

The launch of the Sandy Ridge Super D is going to be a race to remember and one of the last major mountain bike events of the 2010 season. The venue will be stationed on the newly designed Sandy Ridge Trail System located on the foothills just west of Mt. Hood. The course will drop 2,000 vertical feet in just under 6 miles while serving up 300 feet of climbing. These pristine IMBA and BLM trails are loaded with bermed corners and jumps that can challenge all ability levels. Basically a giant non-stop roller coaster and some of the best built trails in the Pacific NW! Plan on a full weekend of great racing and a series finale that you don’t want to miss. The pre and post-race parties, sponsor zones, overall award ceremony, race packet pick-ups and shuttles will take place at Windells Camp, located just minutes from the finish line off Highway 26. This will be the base camp for the entire weekend and host to a Super Slopestyle event on Saturday, making it a true mountain bike festival. Thanks to our partner, NW School of Freeride, we were collaboratively granted permission to use Windells Camp for the entire weekend. Lodging or camping will be available for $20 per night, which includes all of the infamous freeride and dirt jump features, foam pits and skate parks throughout the property; as seen in the movie Follow Me. Talk about the perfect base camp with plenty of room for everyone. If you haven’t been here, it’s an action sports paradise and again, less than 5 minutes from the Super D course!
