OREGON SUPER D SERIES

In two short years the Hood River Super D gained national attention as one of the top Super D/Enduro courses in the country, but we’re going bigger! This year we will introduce a three race Super D series throughout the state of Oregon. Each weekend event will have a point system format, awarding maximum points to each categorical winner. All individual series races will have cash and merchandise prizing with the overall award ceremony following the last race/season finale at Sandy Ridge. Expect world class courses, camaraderie, great prizes, festivals, music and local support. The momentum of this cycling discipline is on the rise, with the mountain bike industry, athletes, fans and media in full support. With world-wide demand for Enduro events taking off, this signature series will bring in top riders from across North America and push the limits of Enduro racing.

WHAT IS A SUPER D/ENDURO MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE?

A Super D/Enduro mountain bike race is best described as a downhill cross-country race. Therefore it encompasses roughly 80% of descending and 20% of climbing built into the course. Super D racing is for the all-around rider with DH, XC and Freeride skills. Most mountain bikes are adequate for a Super D race, but an all-mountain or cross-country trail bike with 4” to 7” of dual suspension travel is ideal. Super D races are becoming very popular and often the race of choice for the majority of mountain bikers. Many international events are incorporating this discipline into their overall race structure and we are now seeing more Super D’s than ever before within the mountain bike industry.

GIVING BACK TO OUR TRAILS

A percentage of all race entry fees will be donated to associated forestry departments and trail advocates in order to maintain trail development, restoration, signage and other sustainable needs. These proceeds will immediately benefit the signature trails we have in Oregon. In addition, the Oregon Super D staff will coordinate ongoing volunteer work parties before and after each event to help maintain the trails used for this regional series.

The Oregon Super D Series operates under a special use permit with Willamette National Forest, and is an equal opportunity outdoor recreation service provider.
